Does the protective film thickness affect SUS630 laminated steel plate performance?
The protective film thickness does not directly affect the steel plate’s core properties such as strength, hardness, or corrosion resistance.
Key points:
The film only protects the surface and does not chemically react with the substrate or alter the metallographic structure.
Thickness mainly affects protection:
Thin (40–60 μm): moderate protection, suitable for indoor short-term assembly, guards against light scratches and grease, less resistant to puncture or abrasion.
Thick (60–80 μm): stronger puncture and tensile resistance, suitable for outdoor storage, long-distance transport, or complex assembly, higher cost.
Too thick (>100 μm) may reduce adhesion, edges may lift, complicating removal and reducing effectiveness.
Choose thickness based on the application scenario; it does not affect the steel’s intrinsic properties.
