SUS630 is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel according to Japanese standard JIS, equivalent to China 0Cr17Ni4Cu4Nb and US 17-4PH.
Key characteristics:
High strength: solution + aging treatment yields 1100–1300 MPa tensile strength, far exceeding ordinary stainless steels.
Excellent corrosion resistance: withstands atmosphere, freshwater, mild acids/bases, close to 304 stainless steel.
Good machinability: can be cut, welded, and cold-formed; hardness increases after aging but retains toughness.
Non-magnetic or weakly magnetic, with no significant increase after aging.
Main applications:
Mechanical manufacturing: shafts, gears, bolts, nuts requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.
Aerospace: aircraft structural components, engine parts requiring lightweight and high strength.
Petrochemical: corrosion-resistant valves, pumps, piping.
